Erectile Dysfunction
What is Cialis?
Cialis contains the active ingredient tadalafil and is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction. It offers particularly long lasting effects in comparison to the other treatment options available and can produce results for up to 36 hours after taking a single pill in helping you to get and keep an erection.
What is the difference between Cialis and Tadalafil?
Tadalafil is the active ingredient in Cialis and is available in a generic, unbranded tablet. Tadalafil and Cialis are medically equivalent but Tadalafil is available at a much lower cost.
Generic medicines contain the same active ingredient and are equally effective and medically equivalent as the branded products but are available at a lower price. Generic manufacturers have to demonstrate that they are medically identical to the branded product - i.e. they offer the same quality, strength, stability and effectiveness.
The dose of Cialis that you need to take depends on the tablet strength. Once a day dosing of CIALIS may be useful to men who anticipate having sexual activity two or more times per week.
How to take Cialis 2.5mg and 5mg
Take 1 tablet whole ONCE a day with a glass of water at the same time each day. You may take it with or without food, as it will not affect how well it works. It is important that you take it regularly every day to ensure you get the full benefit of the medication, so it can be helpful to incorporate it into your daily routine (e.g. with coffee at breakfast)
How to take Cialis 10mg and 20mg
The recommended starting dose is one 10 mg tablet before sexual activity. If the effect of this dose is too weak your doctor may increase the dose to 20 mg. You may take a CIALIS tablet at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before planning to be sexually active. CIALIS may still be effective up to 36 hours after taking the tablet. You can take it with or without food, but keep in mind it may take longer to work if taken with a heavy meal.
Do not take CIALIS more than once a day. CIALIS 10 mg and 20 mg is intended for use prior to anticipated sexual activity and is not recommended for continuous daily use.
It is important to note that CIALIS does not work if there is no sexual stimulation. You and your partner will need to engage in foreplay, just as you would if you were not taking a medicine for erectile dysfunction.
Cialis has side effects that affect some men that take this medication. Common side effects of Cialis are:
- Headaches
- Face Flushing
- Dyspepsia
Notably, Cialis has fewer side effects than other medications used to treat erectile dysfunction. In fact, many men who experience nasal congestion, stomach pain, nausea and diarrhoea with other drugs find that Cialis does not give them these symptoms.
